Computer Support Specialist

Course Description

In our high tech world, computer hardware and software support is one of the core competencies required for building the next generation of technologies. A+ Certification is an industry recognized credential that certifies the competency of PC Service Specialists. Network+ certification is an industry recognized credential that certifies the competency of candidates to install, configure and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services. Security + Certification is an industry recognized credential that certifies the competency of candidates to identify security threats and vulnerabilities, and help respond to and recover from security incidents. After completing this program, the student will have a working knowledge to build, repair, troubleshoot and configure a computer and its software, build the network, and reduce the computer related security threats within an organization. The student will be prepared to take the following certifications:

CompTIA A+ Certification; CompTIA Network+ Certification; CompTIA Security+

Admission Requirements

  • Individuals applying for this course are required to interview with an Academic Advisor
  • Present proof of education (high school diploma or GED certificate)
  • Achieve a 60% score on the SCN Basic Aptitude Test, and a 60% or more on the IT Assessment Test

Class Session

Normal class size up to 15 students.

192 hrs/8 wks

Mon - Thu 9:00a - 3:00p

Lunch 11:30a - noon, 10 min breaks at 10:30a and 1:50p

Graduation

Upon successful completion of the Computer Support Specialist Certificate Program, students will be prepared to take the A+ and Network+ certification exams credentialed by the CompTIA.
